Cake Pops

The Easter bunny brought a cake pop kit. They were pretty delicious, but not worth all the time and effort we put into make the 11 little boogers!! They took like 2 hours with all the refrigerating and stuff. Has to be an easier way, besides using one of those makers!

Easter Cooking Class

Jalen had cooking class this morning and had a lot of fun. They made cheese fritters with eggs and cheese. They were actually really light and good. Jalen liked them, despite him saying how nasty they were going to be and he did not want to try. Then they dyed eggs. We will definitely be using their method again, rather than the kits. He said he wants to have a cooking class party this year. We will see!!

Cupcake Wars

On Saturday, December 8th, Jalen took Cupcake Wars cooking class. He got to make the cupcakes and icing from scratch, roll out fondant and cut shapes, grate Hershey Hugs into snow, and decorate his cupcakes. He love his cooking classes. He participates and learns so much. This cooking class Opa came by to watch him. Thanks to Grandpa we will be doing 8 more this Spring!

Halloween Treats

Jalen had cooking yesterday. The theme this week was Halloween Treats and he got to wear his costume to class. They made Mummy Toes (hot dogs wrapped in a tortilla with ketchup), Witches Brooms (pretzels wrapped with fruit roll-ups), and Eyeballs (dyed pudding, lifesaver, and jellybean frozen). He loved it and enjoys every cooking class.

Wear your costume to class!

Loves to participate!

Cooking Class

I signed Jalen up for cooking classes in Raleigh and today was our first one. They made homemade cupcakes and decorated a little cake. He had a blast. He worked well with the other kids and enjoyed making new things. He kept trying to sneak in little licks every now and then! When he got in the car he said "cooking class is awesome, when is the next one?" I'm so glad he likes it. We've only been through 50 different activities!!

Chex Mix!

The other night I went to a cooking show with my Mom and sisters and had a great time. We learned quite a few recipes. The other night I decided I would be industrious and made Chocolate Peanut Butter Chex Mix and Pumpkin Pie Chex Mix. Both were delicious and super easy. Close your eyes because some of you might get some for Christmas :-D

J-A-L-E-N!

I have been working with Jalen on spelling his name and he has gotten it. I couldn't be any prouder of him. He is working hard in his own little way. He has an attention span of about 2 minutes unless you are doing a hands-on fun activity. In order to help him learn to spell his name, recognize the letters, and put it all together, we baked JALEN cookies. What fun it was and how rewarding it is to hear him spell his name. He had a blast and enjoyed putting frosting all over his!

Note the shirt, please! GO PIRATES! He knows it is Mommy's school. When we were driving to my Mom's he saw a billboard with ECU on it and he said "hurry, look!! It's your school." Smart boy!

Cooking with Mommy

Cooking is very relaxing and almost like therapy for me. When I'm stressed, I cook. You'll know when I'm stressed because I have 400 things in the kitchen that no one in our house really eats, but me. Well, it is very similar for Jalen. When he's bored, acting crazy, or just silly,I can get him to cook and he'll calm right down. We baked brownies last weekend and they were sooo good. We frosted them with chocolate frosting and then crushed Oreos to put on top. He's my little chef!
